ABOUT US

OxGEn was founded in the framework of a grant project “STEP From Idea to the Market”. Grants were issued by CRDF (www.CRDF.org), Shota Rustaveli Foundation (www.rustaveli.org.ge ) and the Knowledge Foundation of Agricultural University of Georgia (www.agruni.edu.ge).  The company’s team includes graduates from Oxford, Obihiro and Johns Hopkins universities and consolidates 10 + years of experience and knowhow with the goal to develop kits, reagents and  assays for the life sciences market in Georgia and the Caucasus.

High Standards for production and service have made OxGEn a trusted collaborator and supplier. Our DNA polymerase PCR Mastermix, DNA Extraction Kits from Bacterial, Plant, Animal Matrices and Human Blood are gaining traction in the local market and caucasus.

Associate Professor Vladimer Baramidze was awarded CRDF, Shota Rustaveli Foundation and knowledge foundation grant to develop a Spin out Company for production of Molecular Biology reagents at Agricultural University Georgia. His research during PhD and Master degrees focused on Molecular Biology and Plant Pathology. He is a graduate of Oxford University (UK), Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), Sint Leuven (Belgium), Universidade Catolica Portuguesa (Portugal), and Julius Kuhn Institute Germany. His scientific knowledge is backuped with 7 years of experience, including general management of mid to large size organizations.

Head of RD

Tamar Japaridze is an assistant professor of Biology and Head of Milk Biochemistry Research Laboratory at the Georgian Agricultural University. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Biology at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. She was then awarded the MEXT scholarship by the Japanese government to continue her studies in Japan. Having worked as a researcher at both Hokkaido University and the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, she received both her MSc and PhD in Food Hygiene from the Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine.

Quality Assurance

Leonid Ushanoff studied bioscience and molecular pathology at State University of New York and Biotechnology and Bioscience Regulatory Affairs at Johns Hopkins University. He has more than 10 years of combined experience working and training at respected institutions like Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and Columbia University Medical Center. His industry experience comes from HCV drug development at PTC Therapeutics, clinical assay development at Cambridge Biomedical and a few other companies where he worked as a scientist in clinical and non-clinical testing and assay development projects. Leonid’s extensive hands-on experience includes virology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology.
